Jason Van Anden uses technology to make living artworks that simulate human
emotional behavior. He began this pursuit in earnest during
one of many group therapy sessions. While reflecting on the
behavior of others in order to better understand his own feelings,
he noticed that his fellow participants often repeated the same behavior,
like a loop in a computer program. Being both an engineer and an
artist, he set out to portray these patterns using code. The resulting
software has become the engine that gives his work life, and sometimes
exists as art in and of itself.
